GUM! MP3 Files Now Available! By: Frank Rizzo The boys in GUM! have put some songs on line in MP3 format so you can listen to them right on your computer. MP3 is the hot new audio technology allowing anyone with a computer, sound card, and internet connection to jam on out at their desks to their favorite tunes, and now that includes the groovy rock and roll of GUM!
Four songs from the CD "Chew" are featured for MP3 players. These include "As Long as I live", a rocker about love being discovered even in the most mundane of places. Also featured is the catchy namesake "GUM!" with it's whimsical lyric. "Emily Ann", the third MP3 from "Chew", is featured as a music video on the multimedia portion of the CD. The manic Brian Steckler LA remix of "Call Me" rounds out the "Chew" portion of the MP3 site with the popular CD bonus track. Two new songs are featured as well. These songs were recorded live on Jan 1 1999 while GUM! was rocking out Fairfax, VA at the hot spot "Crossroads". Two Patrick Hamm compositions, these are some of the fruits of the songwriting rampage that GUM! went through late 1998. The first, "Maria", is a song Pat wrote for a good friend who was visiting the USA and had to leave. The second "Johnny" is a very catchy song about another acquaintance of Pat's who's a little left of center (It's one of Pete's favorites). The live recordings are a little rough around the edges, but we feel they're good enough to warrant you hearing them here. Keep an eye on this space for more new songs to arrive. Next in line is Peter's very popular "In Vegas", a song that the GUM! faithful really go nuts over. We'll be putting more up over the next few months so keep an eye out. To play these you'll need an MP3 player such as WinAmp. For more cool MP3s check out MP3.COM and of course our friends over at BVB Music have some great stuff too (check out that Super TransAtlantic! Hot stuff!)! MP3, the next wave in digital home music technology! Catch it with GUM! |
