Hope you all had a nice winter 97. It's been great to be home for a season reconnecting with friends and family, rehearsing, planning and demo-ing for the next record, and getting some long walks in!
I'm working on about 35 or 40 songs right now, weeding through to single out the best ones for you. I hope this summer's harvest will "turnip" a good record. We also just cleaned up around our community, singing a few songs along the way, in celebration of Earth Day.
Be on the lookout for Richard Julian's new record, "Richard Julian," on Blackbird music. It's rockin'(!) and has some mellow songs, too, that are beautiful. Dave Richards is playing bass. Also, John Flynn from Philadelphia just made a great record with Ben Wisch. Dave played bass, and John and Ben let me sing a few background vocals.
Wes King from Nashville just made a beautiful record with Wayne Kirkpatrick and Ben Wisch! I sang on one song and Dave played on a few.
But what's the deal? So many people we know are moving! It's hard to let them go but I guess it just makes our branches longer. A few of you have been really close. You know who you are. I miss you already, and thank you for being so open and interested -- and interestING!
Well, I'm gonna sign off. But if a little green bug comes in on your Swiss chard next winter, save it -- they make great pets! I was going to put it outside, but Dave said it probably came in from California and might freeze to death. So we kept it in a jar for two and a half months, and she gave birth one day and then passed on. She's buried in the backyard -- Miss Bobby Love Bug, named after the famous singer's emerald-green rhinestone coat.
Thanks for checkin' in!
